Disappointment is a reality on some level in every life, and through my years in Christian ministry, I have learned how profoundly it affects many.  Scores of such stories are recorded on the pages of Scripture and now on the pages of my own life.  I want to share them with you, so that as we take this journey of life together, we can recognize disappointment and deal with it.  It is a joy-drainer, a life-wrecker, and a relationship-killer if not addressed.

We will walk with Bible heroes and our own contemporaries to learn how to deal with our disappointment.  We’ll explore disappointment that manifests itself on other people, ourselves, and yes, even God.

The honesty from the stories held within these pages is encouraging, revealing, and life changing.  I pray that as you see the transparency of men and women, willing to face disappointment and call it what it is in their own lives, you will not only be willing to evaluate your own disappointment, but will gain strength from those who have gone before you.  Ultimately, the Bible tells us that our only hope in this life and for the one to come is Jesus Christ.  The Psalmist said, “Why are you downcast, o my soul?  Why so disturbed within me?  Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42:11).  The heart-mending, soul-healing, life giving God is waiting for you.
